 You are followed, also if marginally, the problem relative to the increase of the postal rates for the forwarding of the papers? The abolition of the reduced rates for the printing increased that go from 120 to 500 and, in some cases, up to 700 %. Sure, however, you see the particular delay in your houses of the number of april of our Paper.
Really, Union was ready yet for the forwarding but we had to stop because the new rates (established with an unexpected and immediate inter ministerial Act) we had to spend 8000 euro more than the past for the forwarding of a single number. And how we can find this money? We, as all the other papers that don’t use the profits for the advertising, are stopped hoping in the requests of the people in the same situation. The sector no-profit (we belong it), after the “work group” between the Government, Italian Post and the Associations, interested to the measure, obtained, for the moment, a reduction relative to the initial increases. But it is a situation that is going to define, and we haven’t anymore the postal facilitations that guaranteed the free circulation of ideas, projects, information. Because of the effects of the Act influence 5100 publishing houses, 2900 editors, profit and no- profit, 1400 no profit religious organizations and 3400 laic organizations, with a negative influence in the employment.
Our paper, that doesn’t be sent under subscription, but to all the enrolled of the Association, is based on the voluntary service of the components of the Editing. But, the printing, the translations, the forwarding, have a big economic burden that we couldn’t cover with the associative rates, already reduced respecting the other Associations. Now the costs of forwarding, increased immeasurably, will force us to difficult and unpleasant choices, but necessary. We inform you about the problem. But now, we give you a reflection: also if we are conscious of the big economic crisis where, not only the Italy, but the whole world, are affected, who likes this attack to the culture? Other sectors, full of waste and illegality, exist and we have to erase them! We have to avoid the temptation that “we can do nothing”.
