President Letter - March 2010 |
 Dearest,
Carolina asked me to write you the usual letter, she is not able to do it.
In 19th January, she made a little chirurgic operation… Understand me it was not of vital importance! And for this, she waited, postponing many times, for the commitments of the Association that, following the lines, assumed during the celebrations for the Centenary, first of all in the final motions of the IV elective Meeting, presented. As I said, a little operation. If someone of her family was called “Geppetto”(yes, the character of Pinocchio) could repair with the magic her foots… New, but nobody can do it, there is not a joiner around us, so she had to use the art of the surgery to turn back to walk. Understand me: this experience is not easy because the operation was very painful.
And I want consider this aspect together with you: the pain.
The pain shows our soul and there is the danger that it underlines our frailties, but if we accept it in the point of view of the Cross, it can give us the sense of the life. When we rely on Jesus who is our teacher and witness, we can face everything, also the negative experiences, not with resignation, but with courage and faith, supported by His love that makes us strong. Carolina experimented the sense of the limit, but let herself to Christ, she experimented the Hope and the Joy.
Publicly, I say thanks to her for her testimony and I want use this occasion to remember to you and to me that, beyond the inevitable difficulties in the daily way, we mustn’t lose the serenity to infect the others with our joy. And in this moment, I stay with the people who is in painful situations. Even if far, we can feel close in the community of the values.
The Lent we are going to live is a moment for reflection for the Easter, without it, “vain is our Faith”.
