Italia – World Council of the Salesian Family (Rome 30-1 june 2008)

(ANS – Rome) – In these days between 30 May and 1 June at the Generalate of the Salesians in via della Pisana, Rome, the annual meeting has been taking place of the World Council of the Salesian Family which brings together representatives of the groups belonging to it.
The meeting was chaired by Fr Adriano Bregolin, Vicar of the Rector Major whose role as being responsible for the Salesian Family was recently confirmed at the 26th General Chapter. About 25 took part representing 19 of the 23 groups belonging to the Salesian Family.
The first part of the meeting between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning was spent exchanging information about the various apostolic experiences of the groups, during which once again the breadth and extent of this apostolic movement containing religious and lay people who draw their inspiration from Don Bosco’s charism was in evidence.
In the second part of Saturday morning Fr Adriano Bregolin gave a presentation of the 26th General Chapter of the Salesian Congregation held between February and April this year and summarised the final document. Sr. Contreras de Los Angeles, Councillor for the Salesian Family of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians spoke about the theme of the XXIInd General Chapter the Institute will be holding in September: “Called to be today the sign and expression of God’s anticipatory love.”
The Rector Major Fr Pascual Chávez also spoke at the meeting introducing the them of the Strenna for the coming year dedicated to the Salesian Family on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Salesian Congregation to be celebrated in 2009.
The participants then examined some issues regarding the nature and form of animation of the Salesian Family emphasising the need for development in knowledge about each other and above all in collaboration in the apostolate
One particular topic considered was the Days of Spirituality of the Salesian Family which have continued to become an ever more special event that encourages growth in the sense of belonging together in the charism and in apostolic commitment as regards the great challenges of life, of the family and of education. |
