To achieve the inner harmony
Once upon atime, a king offered a prize to the artist who knew how symbolize the peace and the perfect harmony in a picture. Many artists tried. The king watched all the pictures but he liked only two and he had to choose. The first was a quiet lake: a mirror where the mountains were reflected. Above a blue sky. Everybody thought that this picture was the best.
The second represented mountains laking of vegetation, above a stormy sky with thunders. Under the mountain ther was a foaming river. But when the king looked better he saw that behind the fall there was a nice shrub with a nest. There, in the storm, there was a little bird. The king chose it and explains that the harmony doesn’t mean live without problems and sorrows, but means find the quiet in these difficulties.
We live in times where we discuss more and more on harmony and peace. To live the harmony doesn’t depends from the outside, but from the inner part of our existence. Everyday we have to solve many problems and difficulties! To work, to study, to support our responsibilties. It seems impossibile that we can live in harmony, without feel sorrow or anger.
Maria D. Mazzarello achieved the inner harmony also in the difficulties, finding solutions through the meditation: without minimizing or magnifying the problems. At the first sight, we can say that the inner harmony is only for people without problems. But everyboby has problems, the different is the way we face them.
Main achieved the harmony, the patience, the quiet even if she was strong-willed. Her spiritual director don Pestarino describes her as a girl “with a fervent and sensitive heart” (MB X 618). One of her obstacles towards the holiness was the pride.

The World of the Lord changed her guiding towards the achievement of the inner oneness. The harmony is a conquest, it means acceptance of ourself, if we are enlightened from the Word. The encaunter with Jesus in the Eucharist testifies this maturity.
Benedetto XVI, at the italian Eucharistic Meeting intitled: “Without the sunday we can’t live”, said: “The Eucharist is the sacrament of the unit.” In the Eucharist, Jesus Christ is present, and it is a dynamic presence that makes us a one thing with him”. (Bari, 23-30/5/2005).
The Eucharist arrives to us full of unit. If we are ready to receive with love, it offers to us its gift. This gift is the unit.
Writing the M. Mazzarello letters, we find a woman who stays the same in every moments for the Institute. It is a reflection of a central personality.
In the letter she underlines the value of the unit. To sr A. Vallese, Villa Colòn manager, she writes: “I leave uou in the Jesus heart and I pray him to bless you” (L.17). And she advices: “ Work to please him, an be always happy” (L.22). To miss Francesca Pastore, she writes: “We pray Jesus so that he take us in his heart ” (L.32). To sr Orsola Camisassa: “You say many beautiful things to me, above all when you receive the communion” (L.39).
Main knew how face the obstacles towards the path to Jesus, to control her feeling (Cronistoria, I 49).
The person who knows the control live the real quiet because she is able to work properly.

Main goes towards the holiness, because God wants her. These are the fervent moments of Valponasca: a life in communinon with God in the Eucharist (Cronistoria, I 80-81).
The ability to solve the problems is means maturity. The obstacles and the sorrows support our maturity.
The spiritual sence of life guides us towards the harmony.
The Eucharist makes us christians. Lumen Gentium in n.26, says: «The sharing to the Body and to the Blood of Christ changes us in what we receive», that is Jesus.
To live the harmony comes from the inner side of the existence through the union with God.
Main was a woman who works with the Spirit, finded the truth, and achieved the harmony, spreading it in her life. She enlightened everyone she met.
